Unicorn in Captivity

The letterpress posters created for the show.
The ladies repurposed a now defunct mani-pedi
salon to hang this whimsical exhibition!
The opening was in conjunction with
the gallery walks on Cherokee St in St. Louis
during the Southern Graphics Print Conference.
Printed and mailed off my latest portfolio edition (the 1st of 2011) for the Unicorn exchange organized by Emmy Lingsheit & Guen Montgomery in Knoxville. The edition of 40 consists of a hand-printed five run reduction on linoleum with stencils. There's nothing better than the smell of ink & paper in the studio. The paper size is 11" x 14", with the image 9" x 12". I need to get a press, but until then my wooden spoon is working just fine (though it did finally crack during editioning this time around)! I integrated the patterns and paper cranes from my drawings in this interpretation of the Unicorn in Captivity tapestry, one of my favorite works of art. Can't wait to see the collated portfolio!
